BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 22. The value of Kyrgyzstan's industrial production totaled 237.456 billion soms ($2.805 billion) from January through June 2024, which is a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the country's Statistical Committee, the physical volume of production grew by 1 percent over January–June 2023. This increase was primarily driven by a 1.6-fold rise in refined petroleum product output.
Growth was also observed in other sectors:
-The output of wooden and paper products, as well as printing activities, rose by 28.8 percent.
-The production of food products, including beverages and tobacco, increased by 17.9 percent.
-Pharmaceutical products saw a 16.6 percent rise in output.
-Chemical production grew by 14.4 percent.
-Rubber and plastic products, along with construction materials, increased by 8.9 percent.
-Textile production and clothing manufacturing rose by 8.6 percent.
-The supply of electricity, gas, and steam increased by 9 percent.
In the overall industrial production structure, the share of mineral extraction was 11.7 percent, manufacturing made up 74.2 percent, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply accounted for 13 percent, and water supply, waste management, and remediation activities constituted 1.1 percent.
To note, industrial production amounted to 482.801 billion soms ($5.398 billion) in Kyrgyzstan last year, which is 9 percent higher than in 2022.
