Tajikistan discloses electricity production for 8M2024

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 7. Tajikistan generated approximately 15.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through August 2024.

Data obtained by Trend from the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee indicates that the country’s production increased by 1.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

A total of 970.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced across the CIS countries during the reporting period, marking a 2.4 percent increase compared to January-August 2023.

Moldova saw the largest increase in electricity production, with a rise of 14.5 percent, reaching 600 million kilowatt-hours.

Meanwhile, Russia produced the highest total, generating 795.4 billion kilowatt-hours, a 3.3 percent year-on-year increase.

Tajikistan, according to President Emomali Rahmon, currently generates 98 percent of its electricity from hydropower and ranks sixth globally in terms of the share of green energy from renewable sources. The country has set an ambitious target to become a fully green nation by 2037.
