BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The electricity production at the Loshan Shahid Beheshti thermal power plant in Gilan province in northern Iran increased by 25 percent during the seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024), compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023), the executive director of Iran's Loshan Power Generation Management Company Alireza Mousavi told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, Loshan Shahid Beheshti Thermal Power Plant has generated 815,000 megawatts of electricity during the seven months.
Mousavi added that the overhaul of the power plant in the current year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) led to an increase in production. At the same time, the power plant's readiness to produce electricity has increased by 15 percent compared to last year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
The official stated that several obstacles exist at the Loshan Shahid Beheshti thermal power plant. With the elimination of these obstacles, it is expected that the plant will produce the maximum amount of electricity next summer.
A total of 360 megawatts of electricity can be produced at Loshan Shahid Beheshti Thermal Power Plant. The plant has two steam units of 120 megawatts each and two gas-fired units of 60 megawatts each.
To note, Iran's electricity production potential is 93,455 megawatts. The production potential of Iran's thermal power plants is 76,257 megawatts, the production potential of hydroelectric power plants - 12,144 megawatts, the production potential of retail power plants - 2,485 megawatts, the production potential of renewable power plants - 1,300 megawatts, the production potential of the Bushehr nuclear power plant - 1,020 megawatts, and the production potential of diesel units - 408 megawatts.
