BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. The volume of cargo transported through Iranian airports for international destinations increased by 16 percent during seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Airports Company shows that the volume of cargo transported through Iranian airports to international destinations amounted to 43,900 tons during seven months. However, about 37,800 tons of cargo were transported through Iranian airports in the same period last year.

To note, as many as 54 civilian airports operate in Iran. Of these, 14 are international airports. Iranian airports carry an average of 30 million passengers a year.
