The agricultural production volume in actual prices amounted to 938.8 million manat in Azerbaijan in January-April 2016 or by 3.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2015.
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report, during this period the livestock production increased by 3.1 percent (898.2 million manat), crop production - by 12.3 percent (40.6 million manat).
The process of sowing spring plants began in the country during this period. As of May 1, 2016, some 273,000 hectares were sown, which is 7.8 percent more than in the same period of last year.
According to the report, some 17,700 hectares of grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn), 20,300 hectares of corn (19,600 hectares of this volume account for grain), 57,100 hectares of potatoes, 52,800 hectares of vegetables, 18,300 hectares of melons and gourds, 33,000 hectares of cotton, 6,200 hectares of sugar beet, 5,600 hectares of sunflower, 964 hectares of tobacco, 59,700 hectares of perennial plants, 1,030 hectares of annual plants, 165 hectares of root crops and 116 hectares of other plants have been sown since the beginning of the season.

According to the report, some 59,100 tons of vegetables and 8,300 tons of potatoes were produced in the farms in January-April, that is, by 15.5 percent and 20 percent more than in the same period of last year.
During the reporting period, some 151,000 tons of meat in live weight, 622,400 tons of milk, 542.8 million pieces of eggs were produced. Meat production increased by 2 percent, milk - by 3.9 percent, the production of eggs by 5.2 percent, wool - 5.4 percent in the country compared to January-April 2015.

The producer prices for agricultural products decreased by 10.3 percent in Azerbaijan in January-April 2016 compared to the same period of last year.
According to the State Statistics Committee's report, the producer prices for vegetables declined by 21 percent. The producer prices for livestock increased by 0.8 percent.
The prices for vegetables decreased due to an increase in grain production by 16.5 percent, a decrease in grain prices on the world markets, as well as the exemption of the import and sale of grain from VAT.
The producer prices for vegetables decreased by 0.2 percent, while the prices for livestock increased by 0.2 percent in April compared to March 2016.
The prices for apples and cabbages increased during this period. The prices for hazelnuts, cucumbers and tomatoes decreased.
The prices for milk and mutton decreased in April, while the producer prices for eggs, beef and poultry meat increased.
The prices for the rest livestock and vegetable production remained unchanged.
