Georgia, Tbilisi, 23 October / Trend , corr. N.Kirtskhalia /Representatives of the Georgian Government delegation arrived in Tbilisi from Brussels. Donors have allocated €4.5bln to Georgia to assist the country to get over the consequences of the armed conflict. According to members of the delegation, they did not expect such a serious financial aid.
Yekaterina Tkeshelashvili, the Georgian Foreign Minister, said that the decision was political stirring up and means a simple support to Georgia on its way to the European integration. "In response to the occupation of the Georgian territory, Europe starts an active rapprochement with Georgia. This fact shows that Georgia is a part of Europe and will never separated from it," Tkeshelashvili said.
The EU will stir up the works on Georgian integration to the organization and it will touch first off all the free trade regime and simplification of visa regime. "This will be a political stirring up and concrete steps to show Russia that Europe will never leave Georgia alone," Tkeshelashvili said.
At the night of 8 August, large-scale military operations were launched in the self-declared South Ossetia republic. The Georgian troops entered Tskhinvali. Later the Russian troops entered the city and drove the Georgian forces back to the Georgian territory.
On 12 August, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced that he has decided to end operations to compel Georgia to peace.
It was decided to keep Russian peacekeepers and international observers in the territory of Georgia.
