BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Military provocation initiated by the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijan has been continuing since September 12, 2022, despite the calls of the international community and the ceasefire agreement, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani army is taking retaliatory measures against legitimate military targets, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Azerbaijani side, adhering to international humanitarian law and humanistic values, declared its readiness to unilaterally hand over to Armenia the bodies of Armenian servicemen who committed a provocation against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and the International Committee of the Red Cross was also informed about this.
The fact that in such a situation Armenia isn’t stopping its provocative actions and continues shelling the positions of the Azerbaijani army from artillery indicates that this country is interested in aggravating the situation in the region, the Foreign Ministry noted.
"We call on Armenia to refrain from destructive activities and to observe a humanitarian ceasefire. Peace in the region can only be ensured on the basis of strict observance of international law," added the ministry.
