BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The State Agency for Maritime and Port Services held a meeting with Stefan Psota, the Deputy Representative of the Republic of Austria for Foreign Economic Relations in Türkiye, and Pierpaolo Bettoni, Regional Sales Manager at Frequentis AG, Trend reports.

The meeting provided information on maritime safety, search and rescue operations, the operation of maritime navigation equipment, and the work carried out within the framework of the Vessel Traffic Management System (VTS) in Azerbaijan's territorial waters. Attention was also paid to the coordinated activities of the VTS with the relevant state authorities in the Caspian Sea.

Besides, the information on Azerbaijan's accession to the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) Convention was presented, and the issues of updating the VTS systems in accordance with international requirements were discussed. The delegation expressed its readiness to provide the necessary technical expert support in this area.

The meeting participants agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation in the field of the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), as well as to continue exchanging experience.

Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ship Traffic Management Agency, Habil Abbasov, noted that such meetings contribute significantly not only to expanding interdepartmental cooperation, but also to the further development of friendly relations and cooperation between countries.

In conclusion, the delegation reviewed the activities of the Ship Traffic Management Center, part of a Ship Traffic Management Agency.
