ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. The French company Alstom will open a service center in Kazakhstan’s city of Shu in 2025, Trend reports.

The discussion on this plan took place during a meeting between the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, and Andrew Deleoni, the president of the French company Alstom for the regions of Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. As part of the Kazakhstan Round Table on Global Investments, the meeting focused on plans for further localization of production and the launch of new investment projects.

During the meeting, the French company announced that construction has already begun on four maintenance centers for electric locomotives, creating over 450 new jobs with a total project cost of €50 million.

The plant has successfully carved out its niche in the Kazakhstan and CIS markets. Demand for its products has increased in line with the growth of container shipments from East to West. Currently, the company accounts for about 30 percent of the railway engineering sector in Kazakhstan in terms of production volume.

Alstom's head, Andrew Deleoni, expressed support for Kazakhstan's investment policy and emphasized that the business environment in the country fosters the expansion of production capacities. The prospects for expanding cooperation to develop Kazakhstan's industrial and transport-logistics potential, including discussions on partnership with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), also received attention.

Alstom is a key investor in the country's railway industry. Over the past 10 years, the company has invested around €120 million in construction, technology transfer, and training for Kazakh specialists, creating over 1,000 jobs. The company has established seven production bases, including the "Electrovok Assembly Plant" in Astana, which produces passenger and heavy freight electric locomotives.
