BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. In the third quarter of 2024, TotalEnergies achieved a 2% increase in its refining throughput, reaching 1,539 kb/d, compared to 1,511 kb/d in 2Q2024, Trend reports.

This growth was primarily driven by the restart of the Donges refinery in France, which contributed to an increase in local refining capacity. Throughput in France rose by 5% quarter-on-quarter to 451 kb/d, highlighting the impact of the restarted facility.

The company’s refining utilization rate, based on crude, was reported at 86% for 3Q2024, a slight increase from the previous quarter. This uptick in capacity utilization aligns with TotalEnergies’ strategic emphasis on optimizing refining assets in Europe and other regions.

Meanwhile, TotalEnergies’ downstream segment, encompassing refining, chemicals, and marketing services, reported a decline in adjusted net operating income for the third quarter of 2024.

The company announced that earnings fell to $805 million, a 21% decrease from the $1.018 billion recorded in the previous quarter and a 56% drop compared to 3Q2023’s $1.822 billion.
