BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. A total of 178,061 microbusiness entities operated in Azerbaijan as of the beginning of 2025.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that this figure increased by 11,171 units (6.7 percent) compared to the previous year.

When it comes to 2024, a whopping 166,890 microbusiness entities were up and running in Azerbaijan.

During the reporting period, the highest number of microbusiness entities (122,269) was registered in Baku.

The second place on the list was taken by the Absheron-Khizi economic region (12,178 micro-business entities), and the third place was the Lankaran-Astara economic region (6,574 micro-business entities).

Additionally, 1,538 micro-business entities operated in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic: 1,826 in the Mountain Shirvan, 4,380 in Ganja-Dashkasan, 3,984 in Karabakh, 3,056 in Gazakh-Tovuz, 3,908 in the Guba-Khachmaz, 4,120 in the Central Aran, 4,826 in Mil-Mughan, 4,475 in Shaki-Zagatala, 882 in Eastern Zangezur, and 4,045 in the Shirvan-Salyan economic regions.

To note, 11,829 of the microbusiness entities are engaged in agriculture, forestry, and fishing; 10,850 in processing; 16,438 in construction; 62,278 in trade and vehicle repair; 13,830 in professional, scientific, and technical activities; and 10,986 in administrative and auxiliary services.

The production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam is a sector in which the fewest micro-business enterprises are engaged; there are only 191 of them.
