ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 3. Five new car manufacturing plants will be launched in Kazakhstan's Kostanay region in 2025, Trend reports via the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Economic Growth Support Headquarters, chaired by Kazakhstan's Minister of National Economy, Serik Zhumangarin.
In the course of the meeting, it was highlighted that a new "Jetour" car factory, which will use small parts assembly, is expected to begin operations in April. This plant will have an annual production capacity of 5,000 units and will create 200 jobs.
"The full launch of a new KIA plant is expected in October, with an annual production capacity of 70,000 vehicles and 1,500 new jobs. The first car is set to roll off the assembly line as early as July this year," the ministry stated.
In addition, a new plant for automotive components will be established, producing items such as paint, plastic products, exhaust systems, sealants, and audio systems, with an annual output of 60,000 components and 800 jobs created.
"Further increases in productivity, process automation, and the expansion of the automotive product line will be achieved by two new factories producing main drives for axles and axle beams, which will create 650 jobs. Additionally, to support small and medium-sized businesses, sewing and furniture workshops with 150 jobs are set to open this year," the ministry added.
Kumar Aksakalov, the Akim (Governor) of Kostanay Region, also emphasized the need to boost the production of special-purpose vehicles, particularly garbage trucks.
As the automotive industry develops in the region, the creation of a transport and logistics hub has become a key priority. The project, planned for an industrial zone, will have a capacity of up to 400,000 containers per year. Its implementation will help establish an international transport and logistics hub for the "North-East" direction, increasing transport volumes by 20 percent.
Overall, for the years 2024-2028, Kostanay Region has outlined a total of 45 investment projects valued at 2.5 trillion tenge (about $5 billion), which will create 10,500 jobs.
