BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. The volume of loans issued to large businesses in Azerbaijan amounted to 8.4 billion manat ($4.95 billion) as of late April this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that this figure rose by 38 million manat ($22.4 million), or 0.5 percent, compared to the end of March (8.36 billion manat, or $4.92 billion).
As of the end of April, the total business loan portfolio of banks operating in Azerbaijan reached 14.95 billion manat ($8.83 billion), up 17.7 million manat ($1.05 million) or 0.12 percent from 14.9 billion manat ($8.82 billion) at the end of March.
Of this total, 984.7 million manat ($582 million) were loans funded through state resources.
As of April 1, the number of registered large businesses in Azerbaijan stood at 867. Large businesses accounted for 0.4 percent of the total number of commercial organizations in the country. The majority of them were engaged in trade and vehicle repair (22.5 percent), the processing industry (13.6 percent), construction (13 percent), and transport and warehousing (6.9 percent).
