BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The European Commission has opened registrations for a new Raw Materials Mechanism aimed at strengthening Europe’s supply security by connecting buyers and sellers of strategic raw materials and supporting new projects across the value chain, Trend reports via the Commission.

Launched during Raw Materials Week, the mechanism operates under the EU Energy and Raw Materials Platform and is designed to help industries diversify supply chains critical to green technologies, digital manufacturing, aerospace, and defense.

The platform will link companies with suppliers, off-takers, stockpiling service providers, and financial partners. It will also support the development of new projects both within the EU and in third countries, the Commission said.

Commercial negotiations will take place outside the platform and without Commission involvement.

The mechanism is expected to facilitate demand aggregation, joint purchasing, and investment consortia. The first matchmaking round is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

The Commission urged eligible companies across the supply and demand sides, as well as financial institutions and storage providers, to register.
