BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. A delegation led by Arif Aghayev, deputy chairman of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY), took part in the 2nd International Cooperation Forum within the framework of the China-Europe Railway Express Forum, Trend reports via ADY.

This forum is one of the main international discussion platforms for supporting the sustainable development of freight transportation on the China-Europe route, strengthening transport links between Asia and Europe, and developing the Belt and Road Initiative.

Speaking at the forum, Arif Aghayev stated that Azerbaijan considers China not only a strategic trading partner but also a reliable ally in the field of transport and logistics. The ADY deputy chairman noted that the joint implementation of infrastructure and multimodal projects contributes significantly to strengthening interregional ties, accelerating logistics processes, diversifying routes, and increasing the export and import potential of participating countries.

In addition to participating in the forum, the ADY delegation held meetings with senior officials from Cosco, Huawei, and CCCC (People's Republic of China), during which they discussed prospects for cooperation and possible joint measures on regional freight transportation and digitalization.

General discussions at the event focused on improving the efficiency of the China-Europe express rail corridor, expanding freight volumes, developing a modern international logistics system, and improving land transport links between East and West. Participants noted that the creation of safe, sustainable, and competitive multimodal transport routes is an important factor in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Following the forum, a document entitled “Joint Initiative on the Quality Development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” was signed, covering digital information exchange, improvement of tariff policy, increased investment in infrastructure, implementation of a “green logistics” policy, and other areas.
