The annual BakuBuild construction exhibition, known in the trade as the Caspian Construction Week, opens in Baku today. The exhibition organizers are the British company ITE Group plc and its partner in the Caucasus - Iteca Caspian.

"The exhibition is a great event for Azerbaijan's construction market," head of the Information and International Relations Department of the Azerbaijani Committee on Architecture and Town Building Jahangir Gojayev said at the opening ceremony. "It will help to develop the market."

Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic said that the exhibition is a good opportunity for Azerbaijan to show the world its achievements, in particular, in the area of construction, as well as to learn from the foreign companies' experience.

About 60 of 317 companies, represented at the exhibition, are Turkish companies, ambassador said.

This year BakuBuild is taking place in three showrooms and an outdoor space at Baku Expo Center. The exhibition space has grown by more than 20 percent in 2011. This year 24 percent of 317 exhibiting companies attending the exhibition will participate in BakuBuild for the first time.

One third of the 317 exhibiting companies will be Azerbaijani producers and distributors, taking up 35 percent of the exhibition area; while more than 50 percent of the exhibitors will be representatives from foreign countries (from Europe, Turkey, China, Korea, Kuwait, the UAE and others). Finally about 15 percent of the exhibitors will be representing companies from the CIS countries.

Along with the individual stands, six collective exhibitions will take part in BakuBuild.

As is traditional, there will be national stands from Germany (in close co-operation with the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA)), Italy, Finland and Iran. Portugal will also have a national stand at BakuBuild for the first time. The Turkish producers, for whom the Azerbaijani market has always been a priority, will be represented by a large delegation.

Several other exhibitions dedicated to interrelated topics will be held alongside BakuBuild 2011.

The 3rd International Exhibition for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Water Supply, Sanitary, Environmental Technology, Swimming Pool and Renewable Energies (Aqua-Therm Baku 2011), which attracts the greatest interest from international players, will be accommodated in the second showroom of Baku Expo Center and will gather leading companies in the field from Italy, China, Russia, Turkey, Sweden, Finland and other countries. This year Aqua-Therm Baku will be 40 percent larger than in previous years.
