Kazakh Agriculture Ministry continues to eliminate seats of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Zhambyl and Almaty regions, the ministry's press-service said on Tuesday.
"In two seats of infection with the presence of 7602 head of cattle and 6326 head of small cattle, 186 head of cattle, two heads of small cattle with signs of FMD were seized and destroyed. Work continues on the homestead bypass and revealing sick and contact animals. Disinfection of 22 private homesteads has been carried out," the report said.
According to the press service, in the buffer zone, which includes 16 rural counties of Moyinkum district of Zhambyl region vaccination of animals continues. Some 5,510 head of cattle and 26,741 head of small cattle have been vaccinated.
"A rapid response staff, headed by Deputy Governor of Moyinkum district has been created and quarantine regime has been introduced. Quarantine measures continue in the village of Moinkum, roadblocks at the entrance and exit of the village have been organized, restrictions on imports and exports of controlled goods have been introduced," the press release said.

According to the ministry, 27,628 doses of vaccine for cattle, 244 650 doses - for small cattle, 169.7 ml of disinfectants have been allocated for the village of Zhideli of Hantau rural district and the decision of akim (head) to impose a quarantine is being prepared.
Also seat of foot and mouth disease is being eliminated in the Abzal farms of Akterek rural district of Zhambyl district of Almaty region.
"From the national supply of veterinary drugs vaccine against foot and mouth disease to the amount of 15,003 doses for cattle, 164 679 doses - for small cattle and 50 liters of disinfectants was delivered," the press-service said.
There are 122 head of cattle and 12 head of small cattle in Abzal farm.
It is noted that work has begun to seize and destroy the sick and contact animals. Boundaries of the infection, problem and buffer zones for the relevant veterinary measures to eradicate FMD are being defined. Decision of the district's akim on imposition of quarantine is being prepared.
