Eastern Airways, which is UK regional airline, entered a codeshare and ticketing agreement with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Closed Joint-Stock Company, Incentive Travel & Corporate Meetings (ITCM) reported on Wednesday.
In May 2011, AZAL opened the new flight on Baku-Aberdeen-Baku destination. Eastern Airways operates more flights from Aberdeen than any other airline.
The new codeshare will enable AZAL to offer onward connections to Norway with Eastern Airways and many UK cities that the airline links from Aberdeen. Eastern Airways will also be able to sell flights to Baku from Aberdeen as part of the codeshare. There will also be connections from Baku for Aberdeen passengers heading to Aktau (Kazakhstan), Tbilisi (Georgia),Teheran (Iran) and Dubai.
Eastern Airways' commercial director Kay Ryan said that the codeshare allows the company to promote Baku as a destination on Aberdeen network, highlighting to business travellers and oil and gas workers the ease of flying direct with AZAL.
"We also provide onward connections to Stavanger in Norway and a comprehensive network of domestic services from Aberdeen to benefit transiting passengers," he said.
