Eco-Culture, a Russian vegetable company, will create the largest tomato production in Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported citing the company's President Alexander Rudakov.
The agrocomplex will start working in 2019 in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan. The area of greenhouses will be 314 hectares, they will cost $472 million. A part of the land has already been bought, a part has been rented, and the project is being coordinated and negotiations are underway with the banks of Russia and Uzbekistan.
The company will spend another $92 million on 1,000 hectares of orchards where cherry, apricot, plum and peach will grow. Eco-Culture will also build storage facilities, a freeze-drying plant and a deep-freeze plant.
It is planned that 40 percent of products will be exported to Russia, 60 percent to China, South Korea and Japan, the Middle East and Europe.
Eco-Culture, an agricultural holding, is the largest Russian vegetable producer with 200 hectares of greenhouses in Russia. The company plans to increase the area of greenhouses to over 500 hectares until the end of 2023. Construction is underway in Russia's Voronezh and Moscow regions. The company's projects are funded by Rosselkhozbank (Russian Agricultural Bank) and Sberbank.
