Volumes of Iran’s exports & imports via its West Azerbaijan province disclosed

As many as 1.1 million tons of various products worth $1.6 billion were exported via border markets and customs of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province for ten months of this Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through Jan. 20, 2020), said Gholamreza Babaei, chairman of the West Azerbaijan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

Babaei noted that the products were exported to neighboring countries in Asia and Europe, adding that 595,000 tons of products worth $888 million were exported via border markets, while 526,000 tons of products worth $712 million were exported via customs of the province.

The exported items were mainly oil products, agricultural products, household goods, propylene polymers, etc., except gasoline, the chairman said.

Babaei noted that the products were mainly exported to Germany, Serbia, Russia, Kuwait, Romania, Bulgaria, Arab and Central Asian countries.

“During the reporting period, 504,000 tons of goods worth $1.4 billion were imported via the customs and border markets of the West Azerbaijan province,” the chairman said.

Babaei added that 422,000 tons of products worth $569 million were imported via the customs of the province.

Iran’s West Azerbaijan province has six border markets and nine customs checkpoints. The province shares 967 kilometers of borderline with Iraq, Turkey and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
