By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:
Uzbekistan continued to rapidly increase the supply of fresh melon and fresh apricot to the Ukrainian market from January through September, Trend reports citing the EastFruit portal.
Ukraine imported 3,100 tons of Uzbek melons and 2,200 tons of Uzbek fresh apricot over the past nine months.
The volume of imports of melons from Uzbekistan to Ukraine increased 2.9 times, and apricots increased 2.3 times compared to the same period in 2019,
At the same time, the imports of Uzbek watermelon for the same period decreased by almost 40 percent and amounted to only 184 tons. It happened due to the increase in production and the decline in prices for local watermelon.
The supply of some Uzbek dried fruits to Ukraine also decreased. In particular, the import of raisins fell by more than one and a half times in a year and the import of prunes - by 35 percent.
At the same time, imports of Uzbek dried apricots to Ukraine sharply increased by 72 percent compared to 2019.
Attention should also be paid to the decrease in imports of Uzbek grapes to Ukraine in 2020 by 1.5 times to 100 tons. The decline occurred against the backdrop of a shortage of own products and a decline in the harvest in neighboring Moldova.
