Iran's West Azerbaijan Province multiplies its non-oil exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 6. The export of non-oil products from Iran's West Azerbaijan Province abroad increased by 65 percent in value and 15 percent in weight during the current Iranian year's four months (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), Provincial Governor Mohammed Sadegh Motamedian said at a meeting with members of the Council for Dialogue between the State and the Private Sector in the province on August 5, Trend reports.

According to him, in this reporting period, West Azerbaijan Province exported one million tons of non-oil items worth $600 million.

Motamedian also pointed out that during the four months, 1.4 million tons of products were transited through the province.

He explained that during this period, $900 million worth of products were exported through the province's official border customs points, marking five percent growth compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, as he added, an average of 1,700 trucks passed through the province's official border customs posts every day.

To note, the Iranian Customs Administration statistics show that over the four months, Iran exported non-oil products worth $17.5 billion, which represents an eight percent increase compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023).
