BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. Kazakhstan to allocate 43 billion Kazakh tenge ($95.57 million) for the construction of the Bukhara-Ural pipeline, which will run through Kazakhstan’s Aktobe region, Yeraly Tugzhanov, head of the regional municipality, said, Trend reports, citing the Aktobe municipality.

The head of Aktobe municipality noted that the implementation of the project will ensure the gasification of the region.

“Problem of gas supply is currently relevant for our region. There is a sufficient level of gas reserves available, but the existing networks cannot ensure the transportation of the volume that the region needs. Currently, they are overloaded. There is only one solution - the construction of the third line of the main gas pipeline "Bukhara-Ural". Without it, we will not be able to remove the issue of gasification of villages in the region from the agenda”

Overall, regional authorities plan to start supplying gas to 12 villages in 2023.

Tugzhanov added that the length of the pipeline’s third line is around 162 kilometers, and the construction will be launched in 2023. The pipeline connects Russia and Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan.

Currently, one of Kazakhstan’s priorities is to satisfy domestic gas demand. To do this, the government is working on increasing the gas supply to the regions. Latest reports suggest that this indicator is currently at 59 percent of the total population, which is equivalent to 11.6 million people.
