BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 11. Kazakhstan's railroad exports of fertilizers reached 289,500 tons from January through March 2023, according to the information obtained by Trend from Argus analytical agency.
This figure is 9 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year (263,400 tons).
As noted by the analytical agency, the growth in export volumes can be largely attributed to shipments of ammophos by Kazakhstan's Kazphosphate to Uzbekistan and Russia due to stable demand from local buyers.
Out of the total volume, 146,400 tons of fertilizers were shipped to Russia, while 114,300 tons were sent to Uzbekistan from January through March. The fertilizer shipments to Uzbekistan accounted for approximately 39 percent of Kazakhstan's total exports.
Kazphosphate significantly increased its railroad shipments of ammonium phosphate to Uzbekistan, reaching 106,200 tons from 23,300 tons during the same period in 2022. The majority of these shipments were directed to Uzbekistan's Tashkent region and Syrdarya region, where numerous warehouses for mineral fertilizers are located.
Furthermore, according to Argus, Russia remains the primary market for Kazakhstan's fertilizer exports, with nearly half of all railroad shipments from January through March being directed toward Russia.
However, fertilizer transportation to Russia during these months decreased to 146,400 tons from 181,200 tons in the same period of the previous year. Kazakh suppliers typically deliver fertilizers to Russia's border regions.
