BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. The National Iranian South Oilfields Company (NISOC) intends to significantly boost the Sulabdar oil field in Iran's Fars Province, and stabilize production at this field, Spokesperson for the NISOC Karim Hamid told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, final preparations are being made for the Sulabdar-7 well, which has been drilled in the field.

Hamid also stated that drilling two more wells at the Sulabdar oil field will provide insights into the field's condition and reserves, ensuring continuous production.

The spokesperson mentioned that although the Sulabdar oil field was discovered in 1924, it was not considered economically viable with the drilling of two wells (Sulabdar-1 and Sulabdar-2) and was left in that state.

He recalled that the drilling of the Sulabdar-3 well in 1971 confirmed significant reserves, as did the drilling of the Sulabdar-4 well in 1978.

The field repaired two wells between 1993 and 2001, but the unique complexity of the reservoir prevented the start of crude oil production.

Hamid pointed out that, finally, 42 years later, in 2020, experimental daily production of 1,000 barrels of crude oil began from the Sulabdar-4 well.

"Since 2022, daily production of 1,000 barrels of crude oil has been underway from the Sulabdar-6 well," he emphasized.

Note that Iran's Sulabdar oil field crude oil is considered a light crude oil. The field reportedly contains approximately 141 million barrels of crude oil. Iran intends to produce 5 thousand barrels of crude oil daily from this field.

Furthermore, the NISOC, a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company, manages 45 large and small hydrocarbon deposits in an area of 400,000 square kilometers from Iran's Bushehr Province to the north of Khuzestan Province.

The company extracts about 80 percent of Iran's crude oil and 16 percent of its gas.
