BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. Loans totaling 17.6 trillion rials (about $43.5 million) were issued in the industrial and mining sectors of Iran's West Azerbaijan Province last Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), Sabir Parnian, the head of the province's Organization of Industry, Mining, and Trade, told reporters, Trend reports.
He said that 123 loans were issued in the province's industrial and mining sectors in the reporting year.
The official explained that the current mining reserves of West Azerbaijan exceed 1.2 billion tons, and the province's mines contain 51 types of minerals and 38 types of extractable minerals.
According to Parnian, the province operates 339 mines, the activity of 125 mines can be restored, while 50 are beyond restoration.
Besides, he mentioned that the province operates 2,039 industrial enterprises, the activity of 286 of which can be restored.
Last year, the activities of 54 industrial enterprises and 20 mines were restored in the province, he added.
To note, up to 19 million tons of various types of minerals can
be extracted annually from the mines in the West Azerbaijan
Province.
