BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. The volume of guaranteed wheat purchased from farmers in Lorestan Province, located in western Iran, increased by 6 percent from April 10 through August 17 compared to the same period last year, director of the Department of Agriculture of Iran's Lorestan province Emad Shahrokhi told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, about 506,000 tons of wheat have been purchased from farmers in Lorestan Province.
Shahrokhi added that 146,000 tons of wheat in the Rumeshkan district and 101,000 tons in the Kuhdasht district have been guaranteed to be purchased.
The official pointed out that the funds for the purchased wheat were paid to the farmers in steps.
To note, during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 1 kilogram of wheat in Iran is purchased with a guarantee by the State Trading Company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
Meanwhile, 11.3 million tons of wheat worth about 2 quadrillion rials (about $4.9 billion) was purchased from Iran's farmers from April 10 through August 15.
