BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. About 680,000 tons of wheat was guaranteed purchased from farmers in Hamadan province in western Iran from April 10 through August 16, the Director General of Iran’s Government Trading Corporation’s branch in Hamadan Province Hossein Khansari said, Trend reports.
According to Khansari, 161,000 tons of wheat was purchased mainly in the Kabudar Ahang region of Hamadan province, Razan region-148,000 tons, and the Nahavand region 68,300 tons during the mentioned period.
Khansari also added that in the Asadabad district of the region 64,600 tons, the Hamadan region 54,800 tons, the Malayer region 53,300 tons, the Dargazi region 45,600 tons, the Bahar region 39,800 tons, the Famanin region 29,800 tons, Tuyserkan region 14,200 tons of wheat was guaranteed purchased from farmers.
The official noted that 20.6 trillion rials (about $50.7 million) have been paid to farmers during the mentioned period, i.e. 17 percent of the amount of purchased wheat. The remaining funds, 99 trillion rials (about $243 million), are still being paid.
To note, the wheat cultivation area in Iran's Hamadan province is more than 430,000 ha. It is expected that more than 700,000 tons of wheat will be extracted from this area. Meanwhile, during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 1 kg of wheat in Iran is purchased under the guarantees of the State Trading Company for 175,000-180,000 rials (about $4.17-$4.3.)
However, 11.3 million tons of wheat worth about 2 quadrillion rials (about $4.9 billion) was purchased from Iran's farmers from April 10 through August 15.
