BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. More than 11.8 million tons of wheat purchased with guarantee from farmers in Iran from April 11 through September 1, Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister Alireza Mohajer told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the majority of wheat has been guaranteed to be purchased from farmers in Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Golestan, Fars, Kermanshah, Hamadan, West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Lorestan, and Razavi Khorasan provinces.
The deputy minister noted that 10.5 million tons of wheat were purchased guaranteed from farmers in Iran last year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024). It is expected that more than 12 million tons of wheat will be purchased in the country in the current year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025).
To note, during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), 1 kilogram of wheat in Iran is purchased with a guarantee by the State Trading Company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
