BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. A total of 14 million tons of essential products (corn, soybeans, edible oils, etc.) worth $8.6 billion were imported to Iran during the seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Customs Administration indicate (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) that essential products imported to Iran decreased by 6.4 percent in value and increased by 5.6 percent by weight compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023).
$1.62 billion worth of corn, $1.26 billion worth of pressed soybeans, $1.1 billion worth of oilseeds, $815 million worth of edible oils, and $577 million worth of rice were imported to Iran during the seven months.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing the products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of products manufactured in the country.
