BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5. A total of 125 trillion rials (about $320 million) has been paid to farmers in Iran in recent days in exchange for guaranteed wheat, Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister Alireza Mohajer said, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of 520 trillion rials (about $1.33 billion) have been paid to farmers since April 10.
Mohajer noted that more than 6 million tons of wheat were guaranteed to be purchased from farmers from April 10 through June 30. Until September 21, the wheat purchase process will be ongoing.
To note, during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 1 kilogram of wheat in Iran is purchased with a guarantee by the State Trading Company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
