Iran experiences drop in transit volume via Jolfa Customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. The transit volume through Jolfa Customs of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province decreased by 3.2 percent during the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20ç 2024, Director General of Jolfa Customs Office Ali Bisalam told reporters, Trend reports.

Bisalam said that 1.2 million tons of products were transited through Jolfa Customs during ten months of this year against 1.24 million tons in a similar period last year.

He explained that in ten months, approximately 466,000 tons of goods have entered the country for transit purposes through the Jolfa customs, a 1.1 percent growth against nearly 461,000 tons in the same period last year.

The official added that, in ten months, 725,000 tons of goods have exited the country for transit through the Jolfa customs, a 7.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year (approximately 784,000 tons).

To note, the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration show that Iran transited 19.4 million tons of products, meaning a year-on-year growth of 29 percent.
