BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. Iran's Zahedan thermal power plant (TPP) in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, located in southeastern Iran, saw an increase in electricity production of 33 percent in the eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through November 21, 2023), executive director of Sistan and Baluchestan Province Power Plant Generation Management Company Muradbakhsh Bameri told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the Zahedan Thermal Power Plant produced 1.18 billion kilowatts of electricity during eight months.
Bameri added that the Zahedan TPP is one of the four key gas-fired power plants in Sistan and Baluchestan province. The plant is equipped with 12 gas-fired units and has a power generation capacity of 368 megawatts.
To note, Iran's electricity production potential is 93,455 MW. The production potential of local thermal power plants is 76,257 MW; HPPs - 12,144 MW; retail power plants - 2,485 MW; renewable energy plants - 1,300 MW; the Bushehr nuclear power plant - 1,020 MW; and diesel units - 408 MW.
