Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa emphasized on Thursday the importance of reaching a ceasefire to settle the Libyan crisis, Xinhua reported.
Moussa said at the opening of a meeting on Libyan crisis in the AL headquarters in Cairo that the Libyan crisis was mainly humanitarian and the meeting was meant to review all suggestions to solve the crisis in the unrest-hit North African country.
The meeting, attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and heads of other international and regional organizations, came one day after the international contact group's meeting in the Qatari capital of Doha to address the Libyan crisis.
The contact group was set up in London at an international ministerial conference on March 29 on the initiative of the British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
