The identity of two children, whose bodies were found burnt beyond recognition in a car with Danish number plates abandoned off a road west of Berlin, remains a mystery, German police said on Saturday, DPA reported
The car was found in woodland to the north of the city of Potsdam on Friday morning.
German newspapers reported that a man with severe burns had been taken to a hospital in the German capital.
The mass-circulation Bild said the 40-year-old man had told a witness the bodies were those of his daughters aged 10 and 11. The witness had then called the police. Potsdam police declined to confirm the information.
