BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11. The passenger arrival rate at Istanbul Airport in December 2024 increased by 5 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and reached 79.9 million people, Trend reports via the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure of Türkiye.
According to the ministry, in December 2024, the airport's passenger traffic on domestic flights decreased by 4 percent compared to the same period of 2023 and amounted to 17 million people, and on international flights, it increased by 8 percent and amounted to 62.9 million people.
The airport's cargo traffic in December 2024 stood at 3.2 million tons, an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period in 2023. In December 2024, the airport's cargo traffic on domestic flights increased by 3 percent compared to the same period in 2023 to 216,258 tons, and on international flights, it increased by 12 percent compared to the same period to 3 million tons.
The information shows that the number of flights from the airport in December 2024 increased by 2 percent compared to December 2023 and equaled 517,285. At the same time, the number of flights on domestic routes decreased by 7 percent and amounted to 117,764, while the number of flights on international routes increased by 5 percent and amounted to 399,520.
The passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in December 2024 totaled 220.9 million people, and cargo traffic was 4.9 million tons.
To note, passenger traffic in 2023 at all airports in Türkiye amounted to 117.9 million people, and cargo traffic amounted to 2.4 million tons.
