BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Azerbaijan's total importation of nickel and its derivatives reached a valuation of $3.5 million in the previous fiscal year.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee shows that this metric experienced a decrement of $1.9 million, reflecting a contraction of 35.5 percent relative to the fiscal year 2023.
Throughout this timeframe, the influx of nickel and its derivatives constituted a mere 0.02 percent of the nation's aggregate import portfolio.
To note, in 2024, Azerbaijan manufactured metallurgical and finished metal products worth 1.3 billion manat ($760 million). The finished metal production saw a growth of 38.9 percent, while metallurgical production rose by 27.1 percent.
In the interim, the production metrics for copper wire surged by a factor of 5.5, while aluminum product output escalated by 72.1 percent. Additionally, the metal product sector experienced a 20 percent uptick, and the category encompassing multi-wire cables devoid of insulation, ropes, and analogous items saw a growth of 17.9 percent.
