BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. Azerbaijan exported 18,400 tons of ferrous metals and their derivatives worth $20.9 million from January through March of this year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee reveals the value's increase by $9.1 million (76.8 percent) and the volume's growth by 8,000 tons (76.9 percent) compared to the same months in 2024.
During the reporting period, the export of ferrous metals and products made from them accounted for 0.33 percent of the country’s total exports and 2.71 percent of exports from the non-oil sector.
Additionally, in the first quarter of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 279,300 tons of ferrous metals and their derivatives valued at $276.3 million, marking a decrease of $11.8 million (4.1 percent) in value but an increase of 25,600 tons (10.1 percent) in volume compared to the same period of last year.
Furthermore, during the period spanning January to March 2025, the influx of ferrous metals and their associated derivatives constituted 4.88 percent of the nation's aggregate import portfolio.
