DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 22. Tajikistan and China discussed plans to expand economic, technological, and security cooperation, Trend reports via the Tajik president's office.
The discussions were held during a meeting between President Emomali Rahmon and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Palace of the Nation in Ashgabat.
The two sides highlighted the growth of bilateral trade, which surpassed $2 billion in the first ten months of 2025, and explored cooperation in strategic sectors including industry, transport, energy, and agriculture. Tajikistan articulated its strategic intent to amplify agricultural exports to China, as both nations engaged in dialogue regarding synergistic development in the realms of digital economy, artificial intelligence, and green technologies.
Security coordination also featured in the talks, with plans for continued collaboration against terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, and drug trafficking. Educational and cultural exchanges were discussed, including expanding opportunities for Tajik students in Chinese universities.
Additionally, the officials reviewed cooperation within regional frameworks, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Central Asia–China format, and reaffirmed support for initiatives such as the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe.
