Xinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Republic is available for tourism and business trips now: ambassador

At present, Xinjiang - Uyghur Autonomous Republic is safe for shopping of Kazakh tourists and is available for business trips, Chinese extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Kazakhstan, Cheng Gopin, said at a press-conference on August 3.

"Order in Xinjiang - Uyghur Autonomous Republic is restored. Trade Fair annually held in Urumqi in September will be held. The Chinese government has power to ensure stability in the region. At present, Chinese police arrests suspected people in Urumqi", Chinese Diplomat said.

He said that at present, 800 people suspected in organizing of mass disorders occurring in Urumqi (capital of Uyghur Autonomous Republic) early July, 2009.

"Chinese police promises that all guilty will be punished upon Chinese legislation," Gopin said.

"There are mainly Uyghurs among suspected. No Kazakh people were among them," ambassador answered corresponding question of journalists.

Ambassador said that number of died people reached 197 people during July disorders, most of them are Hans (the largest nation in China), over 1,600 people injured. Roughly 539 people stay in the hospital, 13 people in extremely grave condition, 44 - in serious condition.

"At present, benefits are granted to relatives of killed people. This is about 420 thousands yuan (200 thousands yuan from the Chinese government, 200 thousands - from the donations fund, 10 thousands yuan - to funeral and 10 thousands yuan - as a sign of condolence)," ambassador said.

He said that roughly 123 people died as a result of disorders have been buried till July 23.

Gopin said that responsibility for disorders is placed for World Uyghur Congress which is separatist organization.

"Several western nations support this organization. These nations do not want China to flourish," ambassador said.
