Kazakhstan supplied 591,000 tons of grain to Iran for six months of 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
"Supplies of Kazakh grain to Iran for the first half amounted to 591,000 tons. Supplies hit 988,000 tons last year," the Ministry said.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a meeting in the Ak-Orda that the export potential of the republic in 2010-2011 marketing year is 8 million tons.
Meanwhile, national grain company "Food Contract Corporation" told Trend that Iran and Azerbaijan imposed high tariffs on imported grain to the amount of $ 100.
"But we hope that Azerbaijan and Iran will remove these duties soon, as the price for grain increases on the world markets. The duty affects the growth of prices for flour and bread," an informed source in the company said.
He said that today the price of grain per month increased by $ 100. Thus, it reached $261 per ton in the U.S, France - $268, Argentina - $245, Canada - $ 314, Russia - $ 240.
