In 2019, Georgia ranked 16th among 180 countries in the Economic Freedom Index of the Heritage Foundation, Trend reports citing Economic Freedom Index.
In 2019, Georgia's indicators fell by 0.3 points compared to 2018, when Georgia also ranked 16th among 180 countries. Georgia received the lowest rating in the rule of law category. Economic Freedom Index of the Heritage Foundation is assessed on the basis of the rule of law, the size of government, the effectiveness of regulations and open markets
In Economic Fraser freedom rating, estimated on the size of the government, regulations, free international trade, price stability, protection of the legal system and property rights, Georgia ranked 12th among 162 countries in 2019. Georgia received the lowest score in the part “protection of the legal system and property rights”. In 2018, Georgia ranked 13th among 162 countries in this Index.
Last year, Georgia took the 3rd place among 190 countries according to the World Bank's Doing Business ranking, while Georgia was on the 6th place in 2018. Georgia had the lowest score in the simplicity of closing the business. New Zealand ranked first in the rating. In this rating, countries are evaluated according to 10 criteria including the level of taxes, the availability of loans, property registration, etc.
According to the ranking of Global Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum, Georgia was on the 74th place (among 141 countries) in 2019, while it ranked 66th in 2018. Singapore ranked first in the rating. The Global Competitiveness Index is a report annually published by the World Economic Forum. It evaluates countries according to 114 criteria that imply direct interviews of entrepreneurs.
As the International Property Rights Index (IPRI) noted, Georgia ranked 70th according to the 2019 data. In 201,8 it was 78th in the rating (among 129 countries). Georgia had the lowest score in the protection of intellectual rights, judiciary independence, and political stability. Finland ranked first.
Index of Economic Globalization, which is published by Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and identifies the economic globalization level based on international trade, external capital flows, and migration. According to the Index, in 2019, Georgia ranked 22nd in this rating, while in 2018 it ranked 18th (among 189 countries). Georgia had the lowest score in the criteria related to foreign investments. Singapore ranked first.
According to Corruption Perceptions Index, published by Transparency International and ranking countries by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, Georgia ranked the 41st in 2019x, while it was on the 46th place among 180 countries in 2018. Georgia had the lowest score in the corruption-related issues. Denmark ranked first.
In 2019, Georgia was 89th in Democracy Index, compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a UK-based company. Georgia belonged to a group of hybrid countries with 5.93 points, while Norway ranked first in the rating. Meanwhile, in 2018, Georgia ranked 79th among 167 countries.
The Press Freedom Index is an annual ranking published by Reporters Without Borders based upon its assessment of the countries' press freedom records. According to it, Georgia ranked the 60th in the rating, in 2019 while it was 61st in 2018 (among 180 countries). Norway was the first in the rating.
As the Press Freedom Index, compiled by the Freedom House organization and based on surveying experts and researchers noted, Georgia ranked 100th among 199 countries in 2019. In 2018, Georgia was 102nd in this Index. Georgia had the lowest score in the judiciary environment section. Norway was the first in the rating.
