Iran's steel consumption will reach 17 million tons this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), Secretary of the Tehran Iron and Steel Association Hamidreza Rastgar said.
“About 10 million tons of steel will be produced in accordance with the production plan,” Rastgar added, Trend reports referring to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
“The prices for steel and iron products in Iran increased by 30-40 percent last Iranian month (from January 21 through February 19, 2020),” the secretary added. "Taking into account the US sanctions imposed against Iran, the restriction imposed on export, there is no logical explanation of the rise in prices for steel products."
Rastgar said that the prices increased mainly due to the lack of administration.
In accordance with the report of the Iranian Steel Producers Association, Iran produced 22.8 million tons of crude steel during 10 months of this Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through January 20, 2020).
Iran produced 20.6 million tons of steel in the same period of last Iranian year.
