The volume of cargo transportation in the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 1.2 million tons in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Director General of West Azerbaijan Road and Transport Department Arslan Shokri told IRNA, Trend reports.
According to Shokri, 12 million tons of cargo was transported in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province in the last Iranian year.
Shokri added that this is an increase of 11 percent compared to the preceding year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019).
The official said that 10.8 million tons of cargo was transported through Iran's West Azerbaijan Province in the last Iranian year.
"Last year, the number of trucks moving from Iran's West Azerbaijan Province increased by 5 percent to 860,000 trucks," he said.
Shokri said that last year, the transported cargo by trucks from Iran's West Azerbaijan Province was mainly cement products, and the products were mainly transported to other provinces of Iran and other countries.
About 20,000 trucks operate in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province.
