The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia along with power distribution companies "Telasi" and "Energy-Pro" has designed a three-month memorandum of reducing electricity rates from January 1, 2013 to 3.5 tetri ($ 1 = 1.66 lari).
According to the ministry, the memorandum is transitional and considers reduction of tariffs for a period of three months without any conditions by 3.5 tetri for the consumers of categories consuming 0-300 kWh (90 percent).
According to the report, fee will decrease from 13.48 to 9.94 tetri for clients of "Telasi" consuming up to 100 kilowatt-hours, and, from 16 to 12.46 tetri for those who consume 100-300 kilowatt hours.
For clients of "Energo-Pro" consuming up to 100 kWh, the fee will decrease from 12.98 to 9.44 tetri, and for those who consume between 100 and 300 kWh, from 16.52 to 12.98 tetri.
However, according to a report shared on the website of the Ministry of Energy of Georgia, despite the fact that memorandums are of temporary nature, increase in electricity tariffs in the country in nearest future is not going to happen.
"Regarding tariffs, they are finally set and will not increase over the next few years," statement says.
