BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 7. Kyrgyzstan imported 147,772 tons of petroleum coke and bitumen from Kazakhstan from January through October 2024, which is 16 times more than the 8,839 tons imported during the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of the imports amounted to $28.318 million, increasing by 9.3 times compared to $3.030 million in January-October 2023.

Kazakhstan was the main supplier of petroleum coke and bitumen to Kyrgyzstan during the reporting period. Russia followed with 23,063 tons worth $5.461 million, and Uzbekistan supplied 2,182 tons valued at $878,600.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 173,021 tons of petroleum coke and bitumen from January through October 2024, which is four times more than the 42,557 tons imported during the same period in 2023. The value of the imports amounted to $34.667 million, increasing by 2.8 times compared to $12.167 million in January-October 2023.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with Kazakhstan reached $1.1 billion from January through October 2024, a 4.4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. Kazakhstan’s share in Kyrgyzstan's total foreign trade amounted to 8.2 percent.
