Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammdov expressed his deepest condolences to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, in connection "with the numerous fatalities which resulted from the act of terrorism at the UN Office in Nigeria".
"Turkmenistan strongly condemns all acts of terrorism and extremism, and strongly supports international efforts to combat and eliminate this evil", the message reads.
Berdimuhammdov wished Ban Ki-moon fortitude and strength, and also conveyed the sympathy and support to the families and friends of those killed and injured in the attack, the Turkmen government reported.
A number of people have been killed or wounded in the attack on the United Nations building in Abuja on Aug. 26.
The compound in Abuja, a series of buildings that house offices of 26 UN humanitarian and development agencies, was struck by a car bomb at around 11:00 a.m., local time. Hundreds of UN staff members were working in the compound at the time of the attack.
