Iran is going to inaugurate its “biggest petrochemical project”, namely the Western Ethylene Pipeline, in March, said Marzieh Shahdaei, National Petrochemical Company chief.
The line will stretch from Asaluyeh in southern Iran to Miandoab and Mahabad in the northwest, she said, IRIB news agency reported February 8.
Some $322 million as well as 7.35 trillion rials ($227 million) have so far been spent to accomplish the pipeline, the official stated.
The contract for building the ethylene pipeline was signed in 2011, according to which five petrochemical units were also to be built along the way. The pipeline is to be 450 kilometers long.
The pipeline is a main artery feeding petrochemical plants located in the western provinces, especially Ilam, Lorestan, Mahabad and Kordestan petrochemical complexes.
