NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Admiral James Stavridis has personally thanked Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for the Georgian militaries' courage and selflessness shown in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan.
Stavridis has today met with Saakashvili at the presidential palace in Tbilisi, the Georgian presidential administration told Trend.
The sides discussed the NATO operations in Afghanistan and the Georgian militaries' participation in the operations.
"The sides also mulled the NATO- Georgia relations and highlighted progress in these relations," the source reported.
Saakashvili familiarized the guest with reforms in the country, as well as the planned infrastructure projects. He showed Stavridis the Palace and old Tbilisi perfectly visible from the presidential palace.
Stavridis is on a two-day visit in Georgia. He has already met with Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia.
