An unprecedented software system has been created in Georgia to implement the readmission agreement signed with the European Union. The Georgian Foreign Ministry has finalized the project "Support for Georgian state agencies to implement the readmission agreement signed with the EU", which was held with the EU co-financing and implemented by the Georgian office of the International Organization for Migration.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, an unprecedented software system that will ensure electronic record keeping while considering readmission applications was created within the project. E-program was developed as a result of close cooperation of the foreign ministry, interior ministry and justice ministry.

The project is quite ambitious. There was no similar electronic program. It is a kind of know-how. Not only Georgian relevant organizations but agencies dealing with migration issues of the EU countries will use this program. E-software system on readmission will ensure better coordination between the Georgian and European countries, improve monitoring and governance of business processes and promote efficiency of the process and its institutionalization.

Georgian company "Delta com" provided technical support for the project, the foreign ministry said. The program was presented at the IV meeting of the council of the EU-Georgia joint committee on Feb. 26-27, which focused on readmission. The Committee, which is the coordinating body for the implementation of the readmission agreement, appreciated the program as an innovative idea. It was stressed that Georgia's know-how has a chance to become a common platform for the EU in formalizing similar agreements with other countries. Various European international forums and organizations dealing with migration issues showed interest in software.

It should be stressed that the agreement on the readmission of persons residing without permission came into force between Georgia and the EU on March 1, 2013. Along with other conditions, timely and successful completion of a visa dialogue with the EU greatly depends on the effective implementation of this agreement.
